  • curtis KENT

    SENIOR PASTOR

    Curtis Kent came to New Church, which was formerly known as Deerpoint Lake Assembly of God in 2000. Prior to beginning his journey at New Church, he served in various capacities of ministry, which included Associate Pastors, Youth Pastors, Ministers of Worship and Evangelists. Pastor Curtis has also served in the office of Presbyter and Assistant Presbyter with the West Florida Network of the Assemblies of God. Pastor Curtis is passionate about strategically developing and providing life-changing ministry to every generation. 

  • Malia Torres

    childrens ministry Pastor/Director of the learning Grove

    Malia and Israel joined New Church in 2016. Malia has been serving as our Children's pastor since January 2023 and is devoted to nurturing the faith of the youngest members of New Church. She brings creativity, joy, and a Christ-centered focus to every lesson and activity. Malia’s goal is to build a solid spiritual foundation for each child, helping them grow in their love for God and understanding of His Word. Known for her warmth and enthusiasm, Malia loves fostering a welcoming space where children and their families feel seen and supported.

  • Brittany Schau

    Church administration

    Brittany and Ed Schau have been members of New Church for several years and are originally from Illinois. They both serve in several areas of New Church. Brittany plays a vital role in the life of New Church, serving as the Church Administrator and providing support and organization across all areas of ministry. Her attention to detail and heart for service ensure that the church operates smoothly and effectively. Beyond her administrative role, Brittany leads the Mom Co ministry, where she passionately supports and empowers mothers to grow spiritually and thrive in their calling. She also serves in the Girls Ministry, mentoring young girls and encouraging them to embrace their identity in Christ. Outside of their roles at New Church, Ed and Brittany are active members in the Foster Care community.

Pastor Lisa Kent: A Legacy of Faith and Impact


For over a decade, Pastor Lisa Kent faithfully served New Church alongside her husband, Pastor Curtis Kent, as a dynamic and devoted leader. Together, they guided the church with a shared vision for growth, community, and spiritual transformation.


Pastor Lisa’s leadership shined in her dedication to the Girls and Women’s ministries, inspiring and empowering women of all ages to embrace their God-given purpose. Her influence through the these ministries created a vibrant community of faith, equipping women to lead with strength, courage, and love.


In addition to her teaching and ministry roles, Pastor Lisa was an integral part of the worship team, using her gifts to create powerful moments of connection with God. Her passion for worship inspired a culture of praise at New Church, drawing people into deeper encounters with Christ.


Through her partnership with Pastor Curtis, she was instrumental in building a church that thrives as a welcoming, Christ-centered family. From impactful outreach programs to fostering a spiritual atmosphere that nurtures every generation, Pastor Lisa established a legacy that continues to bless New Church and the wider community forever. 


Her unwavering faith, compassionate heart, and commitment to service are a testament to the transformative power of God’s love. Pastor Lisa’s legacy is a lasting reminder of the extraordinary things God can accomplish through faithful and devoted leaders.
